"A Psalm of Life"- Life Advice to Take to Heart

Today in class we read Longfellow's poem "A Psalm of Life- What The Heart of the Young Man Said to The Psalmist." Feel free to post your reactions to the poem, what you wrote about the different stanzas, or any connections that you see between the poem and other topics.

"Lives of great men all remind us
We can make our lives sublime,
And, departing, leave behind us
Footprints on the sands of time"

  • I think that it's good advice, but you shouldn't live life the way this poem tells you, i mean it's a good guideline but you should life the way you would really want to.

  • I think that the poem is very interesting and it has a lot of good points about how to live your life to the fullest but not everyone can live like that because of there situaton or there status inthe world. This relates to the persuit of happiness, and how everyone should be able to persue happiness but not everyone has that chance.

    Hehehehe
    I made a connection!!!!!!!!

  • i think that the poem talked about how you should spend each day as if it were your last and that you should get the most out of anything you do. Also, that you should leave some form of an imprint on the world for others to remember you by in the future. The sand of time i think is history.

    yeah. that was it.
